Investing in your Future

At OUWB, we consider your medical education to be an investment in your future. To support you in meeting the cost of this investment, we strongly encourage you to complete the action steps described below.

Submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) enables us to determine your eligibility for financial aid, thereby providing you with options to invest in your future.

If you have any questions about the financial aid application process, please do not hesitate to contact us at medfinservices@allsaving.net or by phone at (248) 370-3611.

To receive financial aid funds, students must accept admission to Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. The first step is to apply for admission.

Create an FSA ID and Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Incoming students (and their parents) should create an FSA ID at least one week prior to completing the FAFSA.

Be sure to include the Oakland University Federal School Code (002307) to ensure OUWB Financial Services receives your FAFSA.

It is strongly recommended that students observe the following priority filing dates for FAFSA submission to help ensure timely processing of financial aid funds:

  • May 1 - M3 & M4
  • June 1 - M1 & M2

Financial Aid Offers

OUWB Financial Services will email financial aid offer notifications to students beginning in early April. The notification email will instruct students how to view the amount and types of financial assistance for which they are eligible. If there are any changes or updates to the student's financial aid offer, a revised financial aid notification will be emailed.

OUWB Scholarships
Admitted students wishing to receive the fullest consideration for OUWB scholarships are required to complete a FAFSA and include their parental information*. You may also be asked to provide verification documents.

If a situation occurs which significantly impacts a student's household's current financial standing, the student is encouraged contact OUWB Financial Services.

The OUWB scholarship selection process is on-going and, depending on availability of funds, may continue until classes begin in early August. The OUWB Scholarship Committee considers a variety of factors including financial need in the selection process. Additional scholarships are also awarded to students after matriculation through our current student scholarship program.

Students receiving scholarship awards will be notified promptly once a decision has been made.

More detailed information regarding the OUWB scholarship selection process can be requested by contacting the OUWB Office of Admission via email at medadmit@allsaving.net.

*Students over the age of 30 as of August 1st, do not need to include parental information.
FAFSA

All eligible students are strongly encouraged to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every October 1 or shortly thereafter, to apply for financial aid for the next academic year and receive maximum financial aid consideration.

Students (and parents when applicable) who file taxes are encouraged to complete the FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) embedded in the FAFSA. Using the DRT confirms the tax information filed with the IRS and provides an added measure of security by never showing tax data on the screen. The tax information is encrypted and only shows Transferred from the IRS as the answer for each question. The information does not become unencrypted and visible until received by OUWB Financial Services for processing.

Questions regarding how to complete a FAFSA should be directed to OUWB Financial Services.

Financial aid offer notifications are sent beginning in early April via email.
